Larry Dale Smith

1952—2023

Larry Dale Smith, 71, of Inez, went home to be with the lord Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Highlands ARH in Prestonsburg, following cancer-related complications. He passed peacefully and was surrounded by loved ones.

Born Jan. 21, 1952, in Pike County, Larry was the son of the late Polly May Smith and Hezekiah David Smith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Sweeney, one sister, Juanita Kay Smith and four brothers, Billy Joe Smith, Roger Smith, Danny Smith and Tommy Thompson.

He is survived by his wife, Bell Smith; two daughters, Tracy (Andy) Paglione and Lisa Mollette; five sons, Shannon (Lori) Smith, Chad (Angel) Smith, Timmy Adkins, Tommy (Goldie) Adkins and Steve Adkins. In addition to these children, Larry raised nine grandchildren/great-grandchildren as his own, Chris (Sam), James, Warren, JoeBear (Daisha), David, Marvin, Alyssa, Emely and “little” Chris. Larry had a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren to whom he lovingly devoted his time and care. Surviving siblings include his four sisters, twin Linda (Jim) Fitch, Geraldine Nilson, Vanetta May and Kathy (Delmar) Richau, and five brothers, Bobby (Chris) Thompson, Donny (Isabell) Smith, Kenny (Susan) Smith, Rick (Cherise) Smith and David (Phyllis) Smith.

Larry was a lifelong follower of Christ who ministered and fostered a love of Jesus. He had been a member of Martin County Freewill Baptist Church since 1995.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Martin County Freewill Baptist Church, with Henry Jay Jude, Jimmy Stanley and Bobby Mullins officiating.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.
