Earnest Ray Brant
1965—2023
Earnest Ray Brant, 57, of Winfield, West Virginia, passed away at home Sunday, June 18, 2023.
Born Aug. 1, 1965, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, he was the son of the late Richard Lee and Rose Carol Newsome Brant. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Woodson Brant, Idalene Brant Head, Earnest Newsome and Ida Newsome.
Ray worked for West Virginia Steel for 20 years.
Survivors include Ray’s wife, Debra Preston Brant of Clendenin, West Virginia; sisters, Marie (Carl) McNeal of Winfield and Lisa Hatfield of Hurricane, West Virginia; nephews, Justin Brant, Zach (Hannah) Brant, Steven (Abby) Hatfield, Matthew Hatfield; a niece, Chelsea Hatfield; and great-nieces, Abby Stephens and Braylee Rose Brant. Ray is also survived by his step-son, Scott (Lynn) Harper of Wayne, West Virginia; step-daughter, Angela Harper of Ft. Gay, West Virginia; grandchildren, Carey Harper, Aaron (Jordan) Harper, Steven Osborne, Sean Osborne, Timmy Harper; and great-grandchildren, Caida, Jacob, Cameron, Hunter, Archer, Rohan, Sadie and Conrad. Many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends loved him. Ray will always be loved, remembered and missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at the Warfield Church of God, with Pastor Robbie May officiating. Burial was at the Newsome Ridge Cemetery in Naugatuck, West Virginia. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
