INEZ — Martin County Lady Cardinals will have a new addition in the upcoming season as Maci Maynard brings her game to Inez.

At 6-foot-2, Maynard is projected to be one of the top young post players in the Bluegrass.

Maynard officially enrolled in the Martin County School District and joined the Lady Cards for summer ballgames. The eighth grader will play for Martin County High School Hall of Famer coach Robin Newsome as well as for coach Boo Newsome at Martin County Middle School.

“Maci has a very bright future,” Robin Newsome said. “She is not only a good basketball player but has great character. We are blessed to have her join our family. She is a hard worker and even better student.”

Maynard was a member of the Belfry Lady Pirates and the Pike County Middle School championship team last season. She averaged four points and seven rebounds for Belfry and appeared in 29 high school varsity games.

Maynard’s activity in Pike County was not limited to basketball. She was also a member of the softball and academic teams.

Maynard is the daughter of Brandi Maynard and Nate Siggers.
