Herman Staton

1952—2023

Herman Staton, age 71, of Lovely, passed away June 7, 2023, at Highland Appalachian Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.

He was born June 1, 1952, in Pilgrim to the late Dave and Lizzie Staton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Jude Staton, one brother, Ermal Staton, three sisters, Mary Jenkins, Dorothy Barch and Elsie Staton, and one stepson, Lonnie Jude.

He is survived by three daughters, Dorothy (Cecil) Cook of Beauty, Mary Setser of Inez and Jenny Robinson of Lovely; three stepsons, Ray (Linda) Jude of Pilgrim, Elijah (Macie) Jude of Kermit, West Virginia, and Johnny (Wanda) Jude of Inez; three brothers, Amos Staton of Inez, David Staton Jr. and Jimmy (Joyce) Staton, both of Lovely; and two sisters, Larna Setser of Lovely and Carol (Edgar) Daniels of Tomahawk. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, June 11, 2023, at the Mouth of Emily Zion United Baptist Church with Terry Harmon officiating. Burial followed in the Staton Cemetery under the direction of the Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
