INEZ — A man known throughout his community celebrated a milestone birthday over the weekend. Inez resident Lee Sumpter turned 90 on Sunday.

To mark the special occasion, his family and neighbors got together for a birthday celebration. More than two dozen showed up to wish a happy birthday to Sumpter and enjoy delicious food and a piece of cake.

Sumpter’s daughter, Greta Blackburn, says God has been gracious to her father and family. She is grateful for the outpouring of love and affection.

“We want to wish our daddy, papaw and paw a happy 90th birthday,” Blackburn said. “It’s been an awesome day for us all. We are a very blessed family.”
