INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:
Jonathan Jackson, 35, of Lovely, was arrested Sunday on Firehouse Lane in Warfield for probation violations for a felony offense. Deputy David Adams made the arrest.
John A. Spears, 87, of Lovely, was arrested Saturday at his residence on Long Branch for first-degree wanton endangerment.
Deputy Jonathan Holbrook reported that he was serving a search warrant at a neighboring residence when Spears came outside and fired two rounds into the air. According to Holbrook, Spears dropped the gun following a brief standoff and said he was sorry.
Haskell S. Orsbon, 46, of Kermit, West Virginia, was arrested Saturday on Route 292 in Lovely for possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (more than 2 grams of methamphetamine). Deputy Holbrook reported Orsbon was a passenger in an SUV at a traffic checkpoint when officers saw him trying to tuck something between the seats. According to the police report, Orsbon informed the officers that he had drugs in his pocket. After getting the driver’s permission to search the vehicle, the deputies found scales, a handgun and a bag of meth in the back passenger floorboard.
Lawrence Ratcliff Jr., 37, of Crum, West Virginia, was arrested Saturday on Route 292 in Lovely for possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (more than 2 grams methamphetamine) and operating on suspended or revoked operator’s license. Deputy Holbrook reported Ratcliff came through a traffic checkpoint, where officers smelled marijuana. After the deputies saw the passenger stuffing something between the seats, they obtained permission to search the vehicle. According to the police report, they found a handgun, scales and a bag of meth.
Alexandria Destiny Moore, 31, of Warfield, was arrested Friday on Route 292 in Lovely on a bench warrant for failure to appear, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified) and rear license not illuminated. Adams reported that Moore came through a traffic safety checkpoint and dispatch advised that her license had been suspended and she was wanted on an outstanding warrant. Officers found nine green oval pills identified as gabapentin 600 mg inside Moore’s purse.
Timothy Francis, 41, of Beauty, was arrested Friday at Warfield Zip Zone for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and driving on a DUI-suspended license. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd arrested Francis after responding to a complaint that Francis was driving after drinking all day. Kidd got behind Francis’s vehicle when it rolled through a stop sign at T & D Hardware in Warfield and made a traffic stop. The deputy reported Francis had slurred speech and a strong smell of alcoholic beverage coming from him. While attempting the one-leg stand during the field sobriety test, Francis allegedly stated, “I am drunk.”
George Dalton, 25, of Inez, was arrested Friday on Route 292 in Lovely for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Deputy J.C. Kirk reported that Dalton was involved in a traffic stop. Upon searching, officers found methamphetamine in his cigarette case.
Randall Bowen, 25, of Martha, was arrested Friday for contempt of court. Adams made the arrest.
Shelby Baker, 22, of Columbus, Ohio, was arrested Friday on Route 292 in Lovely for operating on a suspended or revoked license, drug paraphernalia and contempt of court. Deputy J.C. Kirk stopped Baker after noticing her license plate was not illuminated. According to the police report, Baker admitted she had drug paraphernalia.
Stella Combs, 55, of Hazard, was arrested Thursday at Addiction Recovery Care in Inez for contempt of court. Kidd reported Combs was court-ordered to rehab. ARC advised Combs was noncompliant as she was leaving. According to Kidd, Combs stated she just wanted to go back to jail.
Francis Reed, 39, of Fargo, Indiana, was arrested Thursday at the United States Penitentiary Big Sandy on a bench warrant. Kidd made the arrest.
Ashley Fournier, 33, of Big Laurel, was arrested June 7 in Inez on a warrant for court. Kidd made the arrest.
Lucy Burke, 50, of Louisa, was arrested June 7 on Blackberry Road, Debord, for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, endangering the welfare of a minor, and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle.
Deputy Adams responded to a call about a possibly intoxicated female whose vehicle was stuck on Blackberry Road. When Adams arrived, he found a Jeep Waggoneer bottomed out and stuck on a pile of dirt. The deputy reported the engine was running, and Burke was passed out inside the vehicle and had a child with her. The report states the child cried out, “Please help me,” upon seeing the deputy.
According to Adams, Burke nearly fell while exiting the vehicle and Adams had to catch her. Later, she fell to the ground while trying to comfort the distressed child.
Officers transported Burke to a hospital for medical clearance for jail. The deputy reported that Burke vomited in the car and on herself during the trip. While at the hospital she became combative, hitting and kicking the medical personnel.
