INEZ — Wesley Hager, the football coach at Martin County Middle School, has revealed the schedule for the upcoming 2023 season and initiated summer workouts for the team.
Hager has set signups for Monday (May 29) at the football field from 4-5 p.m.
Voluntary workouts will be held every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday until June 22, from 4-5:30 p.m., giving the Cardinals an opportunity to prepare.
“Parents can bring their children and enroll them at any time during our schedule,” stated Hager.
Participation in any workout requires players to have updated sports physicals.
The dead period will commence June 25, followed by mandatory practice starting on July 10.
The season will kick off Aug. 10 with an away game against Prestonsburg. The following Friday, Aug. 17, the Cardinals will travel to Paintsville for another game.
The first home game is scheduled for Aug. 24 against Betsy Lane, followed by home games Aug. 31 against Prestonsburg and Sept. 7 against Floyd Central.
On Sept. 14, Martin County will be on the road to face Williamson, then travel to Floyd Central on Sept. 21. They will have an open date for a road game Sept. 28 and visit Betsy Lane on Oct. 5.
Martin County will host Paintsville on Oct. 12.
The first round of playoffs is set for Oct. 16-21, while the second round will take place Oct. 23-28.
