Rock around the clock for National Nursing Home Week

Martin County Health Care Facility celebrates with ‘50s Diner

CITIZEN STAFF REPORT

INEZ — The word from the bird is Martin County Health Care Facility residents and staff rocked around the clock to celebrate National Nursing Home Week.

The facility transformed into a “1950s Diner,” a place for friends, milkshakes, light-hearted laughter and cheerful nostalgia.

Many residents showed up for the Sock Hop. The Pink Ladies came acting cool, looking cool, and being cool in poodle skirts, scarves and classic pink jackets.

The celebration featured lively singing by Phillip & Barb Kirk with Doc Goble and others such as Bradley Goble & Chelsea Jude.

The entire week held special fun-filled activities, including residents and staff doing “The Twist” as the sound of Chubby Checker filled the air.
