INEZ — Martin County High School seniors Damian Cheek and Hannah Stacy and Martin County Middle School seventh grader Annaleigh Davis are the Mountain Citizen Players of the Week.

Cheek (#23) plays baseball for the Cardinals and pulls double duty as a catcher and a  pitcher. Cheek went 2-for-3 vs. West Carter last week and helped lead the Cardinals over Morgan County with a double and two RBIs. Cheek is batting .344 on the season and leads the team with the lowest ERA at 2.14. He has amassed 26 strikeouts.

Stacy (#35) plays catcher for the Martin County Lady Cardinals softball team. She helped lead the Lady Cards to a 4-0 week, going 2-for-3 vs. Floyd Central with one double and two RBIs; and 1-for-2 vs. Knott County with a triple. Stacy has a batting average of .417, the second-highest on the team, and leads the team with the most doubles this season.

Davis (#36) plays soccer for the Martin County Middle School Lady Cardinals and helped lead them to a district championship last week. With one minute remaining and the Lady Cardinals down by one goal, Davis kicked in the tying goal to send the game into overtime. She has scored over 15 goals and made double-figure assists this season.
