James Avery McCoy

1963—2023

James Avery McCoy, 59, of Paintsville, Kentucky, passed away April 30, 2023, at his residence.

Born Oct. 24, 1963, in Martin County, he was the son of the late James Thomas McCoy and Christine Slone. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Lee McCoy, and two sisters, Linda Lou Dunlap and Phyllis and Maynard.

He is survived by his stepmother, Creasy Jude, one son, Austin McCoy of Inez, one daughter, Samantha (DJ) Hill of Paintsville, and one brother, Tommy McCoy of Inez.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Delong Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the funeral home to assist with funeral costs. Arrangements are under the direction of the Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
