Oma J. Scott 

1953—2023

Oma J. Scott, 70, of Lovely, Kentucky, passed away at her home Thursday, March 30, 2023, surrounded by her family.

She was born Jan. 1, 1953, in Prestonsburg to the late Chester and Ethel Maynard. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three children, Myrtle “Kathy” McCoy, Christopher Eric Scott and Jerry Lee Spaulding. 

Oma is survived by her husband, Mack Arthur Scott; children, Jennifer Lee (Pickle Butcher) Scott and Lacy (Natasha Stacy) Scott, both of Inez, Julia (Floyd) Stacy and Christopher Scott, both of Lovely, Tonya Ray Waller and Jessica (Christopher “Tommy”) Staton, both of Beauty, and James Scott of Sidney; and several grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Molly (Cecil) Spaulding and Christina (Lindsey) Spaulding, both of Mingo County, West Virginia, Vice (Ray) Carter of Beauty, Annie (Billy) Dingess of Tomahawk, Chester Ray (Judy) Maynard of Crum, West Virginia, Dennis (Gail) Maynard of Lovely, and Prentice Maynard of Inez. 

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, April 2, 2023, at the Warfield Chapel of the Callaham Funeral Home with Buddy Stacy and David Stacy officiating. Burial was at the Maynard Cemetery under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home of Inez.
