INEZ — Martin County Middle School baseball fell 14-2 to Magoffin County in a game March 27 at home.

The Cardinals got on the board first with two runs in the first inning. Jerrod Haney started the inning with a base on balls while Caige Presley hit a double. Haney and Presley both crossed the plate giving the Cardinals a 2-0 lead.

Magoffin County scored one in the second to cut the lead 2-1.

The Cardinal bats went cold as MCMS went three up and three down for the next three innings.

Magoffin scored four in the third and nine in the fourth.

“I saw a lot of positive,” MCMS coach Michael Coleman said. “We just made some crucial errors at the wrong time. We will work hard to correct these mistakes and get better.”
