WARFIELD — The City of Warfield Easter Egg Hunt is set for 10 a.m. Saturday (April 8) at Warfield Park.

“If anyone wants to come and help, we’ll take all the help we can get,” Warfield clerk Rhonda Price said in a council meeting Thursday.

The city voted to pay bills and wrapped up a quick agenda.

Councilman John Sammons told council members the gazebo needed stain and minor repairs.

“It needs more seats in it,” Sammons said. “It used to have a swing in it, but someone stole the swing. There’s no use in putting a swing back in it because they would just steal it again.”

The other council members agreed.

The council conducted its second reading of the electric franchise ordinance. Price said the public notice advertisement would run in the newspaper April 12 and bids taken April 27 at 1 p.m.

Warfield also voted to accept the Martin County Fiscal Court’s solid waste resolution.

The council read a resolution recommending its streets be adopted into the Martin County Road Plan, citing its lack of sufficient funding for street repair.

The council discussed painting the parking lot. Price said the city would have to arrange to clean the parking lot and decide if they wanted to seal the asphalt.

“Then you would paint it afterward,” said Price.

Councilman John Sammons said the city couldn’t afford sealer.

Councilman Davey Bell said the lot didn’t need a sealer.

“It isn’t that bad, but the lines need to be painted,” said Bell.

“They came up there and wanted $3,000 to seal my driveway,” said Sammons.

Bell said it would cost $15,000 to seal the parking lot.
