WARFIELD — Usually, the Warfield Park Community Center is a place for hosting parties and events, but it will be a place to dance and praise this weekend.
Thanks to former Martin County resident Christal Shumway, who is bringing One Step Closer to the WPCC at 3 p.m. Saturday.
One Step Closer is a praise dance class open to all ages – and it’s free.
Dancers can expect to do line-dancing, hip-hop, old-school and more – all to Christian music.
According to WPCC board member Denise Chaffins, Shumway’s goal is to give people in her hometown an opportunity and exposure to praise dance.
“Christal is a wonderful Christian woman who loves God and has a passion for dancing and exercise,” Chaffins said. “She does it all to Christian music. She has a vision and wants to pursue her passion beyond her personal life. She wants to present it to others, hoping it will touch them as it has her.”
The session will last about an hour and give dancers a “good cardio workout.”
“You don’t have to be a Christian to attend the class. Everyone is welcome,” said Chaffins.
