It was a tough week for the Martin County Cardinals. They lost back-to-back games against host Hazard 76-49 on Feb. 13 and Pike Central 67-58 Thursday at home.

The Cardinals finish the regular season 19-10 and enter 57th District tournament play against Johnson Central at 7 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 22) at Paintsville High School. The winner will play in the championship game Friday at 7 p.m.

“We did a lot of good things last night to get back on track,” Martin County head coach Jason James said. “We just didn’t close the deal. We shot it great in practice. Just right now, in games, they are not falling. But it’s a new season now, and I feel good about our chances next week.”

Below is a recap of last week’s action.
