Martin County Cardinals JV smacks Magoffin County 69-46

SALYERSVILLE — The Martin County Cardinals JV team smacked the Magoffin County Hornets 69-46 in a game Friday on the road.

The Hornets jumped out on the Cards in the first quarter 17-4. The Cardinals got a bucket from Bryson Dials and Devan Maynard for a 4-point first quarter. Sammons from Magoffin scored 11 first-quarter points.

Whatever Coach PJ Harris said in the huddle at the end of one changed the tide. The Cardinals came out fired up in the second quarter. Ethan Ferrell dropped 12 of his 23 game points as the Cards outscored Magoffin 24-13. Martin County trailed 30-28 at the half.

Eli Mills caught fire and picked up the scoring slack in the third. Mills knocked down three treys for nine points to lead the Cardinals to a 17-11 third quarter and put them on top 45-41.

Six Cardinals got in the scoring column in the final frame to help Martin County outscore Magoffin 24-5 and put the game away.

Ferrell led all scorers with 23 points for Martin County. Maynard dropped 14 points, Dials netted 12, Mills scored nine, Miller added four points, Brayden Estepp flipped in three, and Braxton Maynard and Jarred Haney each finished with two.

Sammons led Magoffin County with 14 points, Gilliand dropped 10 points, Arnett finished with six points, Meadows and Hall each added 4 points, M. Hall, Bowling, Burchell and Whitaker each chipped in two points.
