INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s office reported the following arrests.
Candie (Sluss) Muncy, 60, of Pilgrim, was arrested Tuesday in Pilgrim for public intoxication , disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd responded to a call about a possible intoxicated female near Rocky Branch. Upon arrival, the deputy found Muncy pulling away from another officer, yelling, cursing and stating she was going to take Unit 65’s vehicle. Kidd says Muncy would not submit to hand restraints upon multiple verbal attempts but was arrested a short time later.
Brian Adkins, 25, of Fort Gay, W.Va., was arrested Saturday for inadequate silencer (muffler), no registration plates, no registration receipt, failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance/security, operating on suspended or revoked operator’s license, first-degree and first-offense possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine), second-degree possession of controlled substance (drug unspecified) and third-degree possession of controlled substance (drug unspecified). Deputy David Adams made the arrest.
Jordan Stacy, 25, of Lovely, was arrested Saturday in Warfield for third-degree and first-offense trafficking in a controlled substance (greater than 20 but less than 120 dosage units drug unspecified). Deputy Adam’s report states Stacy was a passenger in a vehicle where the driver consented to a search. Adams says he found a black case under the passenger seat containing three individually packaged-for-sale white pills identified as Gabapentin 600mg. One bag contained seven pills, one bag contained 11 pills, and one contained nine. Stacy’s Visa card was also inside the bag, Adams says. The officer seized $241 cash from Stacy’s right front pocket.
Herman Endicott, 52, of Inez, was arrested Saturday on Blacklog Road in Inez for first-degree and second-offense possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), second-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified) and third-degree possession of controlled substance (drug unspecified). Deputy J.C. Kirk made the arrest after responding to a complaint to Sheriff Kirk about Endicott being at Wildcat Mart impaired with drugs in his possession.
Deputy Kirk found Endicott sitting in his mother’s vehicle at Wildcat Mart and reported Endicott passed all field sobriety tests. The deputy asked if there was anything in the car, and Endicott allegedly stated his girlfriend may have left something in there and gave the officer consent to search. Kirk reported finding a black bottle containing a white powder substance under the steering wheel cover. The officer seized a round purse pouch from under the driver seat containing three suboxone pills, two Pregabalin pills, three clonazepam pills, 44 gabapentin pills and four diazepam pills. The deputy also found another black tube containing a crystal rock and pieces, which Endicott allegedly stated was meth.
Brittany C. Hall, 26, of Crum, W.Va., was arrested Friday on North Wolf Creek in Lovely for fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) no visible injury. Deputy Adams responded to a call advising dispatch that Hall called stating Brian Adkins took her car and wrecked it, so she went inside a residence and maced him. Adams encountered Hall at the caution lights in Lovely, where she advised that she had let Jordan Stacy use her vehicle to help her move from Rocky Branch and that Stacy told her he was going to take the car to his mother’s house on North Wolf Creek Road.
Hall allegedly said her children’s dad, Brian Adkins, had gotten the vehicle and wrecked it twice Thursday. Hall further stated she located Adkins passed out in bed “so high he could not keep his eyes open” at Millie and Jimmy Stacy’s house. Hall told the officer that Adkins was on heroin and when she asked him for her car keys, he mumbled an obscenity at her a couple of times, so she maced him. She added that after she maced him, he gave her the keys.
Hall had her and Adkins’ two juvenile children in the car, so the deputy notified social services. Hall that she had no family living in the state of Kentucky. Adams placed the children in protective custody of social services. The deputy noted, “Both children sounded extremely sick, coughing, choked up on drainage, and stated they were hungry.” The children were sent to the hospital to be medically checked. Dispatch advised that Hall had an active EPO on Adkins.
Jordan Delong, 19, of Debord, was arrested Thursday at Dempsey Housing in Warfield on three bench warrants for failure to appear in court. Adams made the arrest.
Jeremy Maynard, 39, of Lovely, was arrested Thursday in Inez for second-degree escape. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd responded to a call to dispatch about a man on W. Main Street in all orange who appeared to have handcuffs. Upon arrival, citizens advised the escaped inmate had run behind a home on West Main Street. “I walked up the hill several feet and noticed something orange approximately 75-100 feet up the hill. It appeared the person fell down when I ran toward him. The subject stated, ‘It’s me. I give up.” Maynard was identified as a Big Sandy Regional Detention Center inmate on transport by the Martin County Jailer to circuit court. BSRDC verified the inmate body receipt was signed at 8:48 a.m. by jailer transport.
Mark Porter, 60, of Debord, was arrested Jan. 18 on Sawmill Hollow off Route 3 in Debord for all-terrain vehicle violations, operating on a suspended operator’s license, no insurance and theft by unlawful taking or disposition all others $1,000-$10,000. According to the arrest report, Fred Mills called law enforcement and stated a man on a blue side-by-side was taking copper wire and coming out of Sawmill Hollow.
Chief Deputy Kidd conducted a traffic stop on Porter at the mouth of the hollow, where Porter allegedly stated he dumped the wire at a building and agreed to show the officer the location. Kidd says a Booth Energy employee identified Porter as the male he saw with the copper wire in his side-by-side and provided a statement. Porter told officers he took the wire but thought it was junk.
