WARFIELD — Eden Wildcats A Team dominated Warfield 42-17 two win the Martin County Elementary Tournament championship Jan. 12 at Martin County Middle School.
The Eden Wildcats A Team won the bye in the Martin County Elementary Tournament to advance to the A Team championship game. Warfield defeated Inez 23-18 on Jan. 11 in the tournament’s first round to advance to the championship game to face Eden.
Both teams got off to a slow start offensively with Warfield winning the first quarter 6-5.
It didn’t take Eden long to heat up as they scored 14 points in the second quarter to take a commanding 19-10 lead in at the half.
Eden kept the pressure on outscoring the Red Devils 12-4 in the third to take a 31-14 lead into the final quarter.
Eden outscored Warfield 11-3 and never looked back in winning their first-ever A Team County championship 42-17.
Brydan Marshall scored 14 points to lead Eden, Luke Preece netted 11 points, Chucky Leonard added five points, Braxten Pack and Brady Jewell finished with four points each, and Skyler Green and Hunter Phelps each contributed two each.
Mason Prince led Warfield with six points, Ben Sammons netted five, Jacob Massie added three, Shawn Welson scored two and Mason Phillips finished with one.
