LOUISVILLE — An Inez Elementary tennis player won the Louisville New Year’s Classic Tennis Tournament championship.
Blaine Williams, a third-grade student, competed in the 10-and-under division.
Williams defeated Max Gordon of Louisville 5-4, 1-4, 1-0 (tiebreaker) in the semifinals and Ozil Hinojosa 4-1, 4-2 in the finals to bring home the gold.
Williams’ championship is the first ever for a Martin County student in a state-sanctioned tennis tournament.
