George Norman Sammons

1947—2022

George Norman Sammons, 75, of Warfield, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022 at J.J. Jordan Senior Living Center in Louisa.

He was born July 15, 1947 to the late George McClellan Sammons and Audrey Clay Sammons. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving brother, Dwight David Sammons.

George is survived by his children, Sean (Teresa) Sammons and Jason Sammons, both of Louisa, and Sara Sammons of Ashland; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his siblings, Ewell (Brenda) Sammons of Salyersville, Gregory (Carol) Sammons, Sheldon (Joyce) Sammons, Tammy (John) Hensley and John Sammons, all of Warfield, Harry (Jane) Sammons of Dobson, N.C., and Norma Sammons of Inez; and many nieces and nephews.

George was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired coal miner. He loved to take his family fishing.

No services will be held at this time per his wishes. A celebration of life will be held at a later date with family and friends in honor of his memory. Mullins Family Funeral Home is to serve the family.
