FRANKFORT — Senate President Robert Stivers and Senate leadership announced 2023-24 Senate Majority Caucus member committee assignments Monday.
Senator Phillip Wheeler, R-Pikeville, has been tapped to serve as vice chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and will continue to serve as vice chair of the Economic Development Committee. He will also continue to serve as a member of the Senate Transportation Committee, the Natural Resources Committee and the State and Local Government Committee.
Wheeler was first elected to represent the 31st Senate District in 2019.
“I am grateful to leadership for having the faith in me to serve on these committees,” Wheeler said. “As a career attorney, I have a keen interest in policy relating to the law. Every vote I take, whether it be on the Senate floor or in committee, is heavily based on my 20 years of experience in private law practice. I look forward to working with Senator Whitney Westerfield and my Senate colleagues to craft effective policy that will bring meaningful results to residents throughout our great commonwealth.”
Standing committee assignments are not final until the Senate Committee on Committees makes a formal vote. The Committee on Committees membership comprises both Senate majority and minority caucus members. Committee appointments are subject to change.
