WARFIELD — A police traffic stop turned into a meth bust Saturday in Warfield.

Martin County Sheriff’s deputy David Adams pulled over a car for an inadequate muffler at about 10:30 p.m. and arrested the driver for a bench warrant and driving on a DUI-suspended license.

When Frankie L. Maynard, 46, of Pilgrim, exited the vehicle, officers noticed a pill bottle in his waistband.

Maynard allegedly admitted there was meth in the bottle and asked officers if he could throw it in the river.

Deputies found 13 individually packaged for sale baggies of meth and 13 white pills identified as Neurontin.

Maynard was arrested and charged with first-degree trafficking in controlled substance (over 2 grams of methamphetamine) and third-degree possession of a controlled substance.
