LOVELY — Three days of tolerating an unwelcome guest took a turn for the worse Friday when a female was threatened with a firearm, among other alleged criminal acts.

Martin County Deputy David Adams was dispatched to the Zip Zone gas station in Lovely after a call to 911 reported a female was at the location advising she had been threatened with a firearm.

Upon arrival, Adams found Misty McKinney, who advised that Tommy Reed, 50, of Warfield, had been at her residence on Riverfront Road for three days and she wanted him to leave. McKinney said Reed was trying to fight with her son and had pulled a gun out and started shooting at her son through the bedroom window.

Adams traveled to the residence and discovered Reed sitting on the couch drinking whiskey from a bottle. When questioned about what was going on, Reed began making offensive remarks about McKinney’s son.

Reed was advised he was not welcome at the residence and needed to leave. While attempting to arrange a ride, Reed began cursing and stated, “Take me to jail,” and continued to make derogatory comments about McKinney’s sons.

According to the police report, Reed looked at McKinney, puffed his chest out and said, “You’ll regret calling the law on me.” When Adams asked what he meant, Reed allegedly said, “She knows what I mean.

Reed was charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, second-degree disorderly conduct and menacing.
