WARFIELD — Martin County High School Tennis teams were in action March 20 at home, falling to an experienced Pikeville Independent loaded with seniors and tabbed the regional favorites. The boys fell 10-0 and the girls 10-1.

“While the score looks bleak in our losses this week, I am happy to see the continuous growth the kids are showing,” Martin County coach Joshua Penix said. “In facing such a veteran team, each kid showed improvement while competing.”

Aalyiah Cline and Lexi Sammons got the lone win for Martin County 6-4.

Martin County was scheduled for matches Thursday with Belfry, but the event was postponed due to sickness and injuries on both teams.
