Eden Elementary would like to recognize several different groups of people that have exhibited “paws-itive” behaviors that are noteworthy of celebration. Every week, we showcase a student from each grade level, a community partner and a member/group of our hard-working staff that have gone above and beyond to make a positive impact on our school.
The community partner and staff will remain in the spotlight for two weeks. Our school staff is always watching for opportunities to encourage students to demonstrate excellent character, behavior or effort. Our school hopes to create a “paws-itive” culture for students, staff and our community where they truly feel valued as we spotlight these Wonderful Wildcats!
This week is a little different. We are spotlighting two groups of students and staff for their dedication, determination, grit and teamwork on the court and off the basketball court.
The Eden Elementary Lady Wildcats basketball A- and C-teams had a very successful season this year. The A-team went undefeated in county play, and the A- and C-teams brought home the 2022-23 championship to Eden.
Our sixth graders demonstrated great leadership skills on and off the floor. With many players returning next season, we expect another fun basketball season from our Lady CATS!
The Lady Cats extended their season by competing in an additional conference and placing as runner-up in the Eastern Kentucky Elementary Basketball Conference. These Lady Wildcats put a lot of time and energy into their practices and always had a goal to get better every day. They played together as a team and had an end goal: winning as a FAMILY. The girls embraced the pressure and competed with confidence, even though it was tough to overcome at times. These Lady Wildcats had a very fun, successful season, and we are so very proud of all of them.
Eden A-team players include Ally McGinnis, Lexi Bowen, Kailynn Maynard, Kennedy Mills, McKinley Fitch, Zoe Sammons, Alivia Stacy, Harleigh Maynard, Braylee Horn, Paige Stafford, Haileigh Smith, Paislee Hinkle and Erica Collins.
C-team members are Miranda Cline, Martha Maynard, Isabella Jude, Skyler Linley, Lilly McCoy, Aubry Wilson, Charlie Mollett, Sara McCoy, Julianna Horn, Harper Howell and Olivia Maynard.
We are also spotlighting the coaches that have prepared these players by providing them the game techniques crucial to player and team success. Our coaches have implemented a truly successful mentorship for these players by developing each player’s maximum potential and identifying their strengths as well as overcoming their weaknesses.
Coaches include BJ Endicott, Shane Stafford, Fred Mills, Brady Horn and Steven Howell.
Eden Elementary is very proud of our girls basketball team and the coaches who contributed to their successful year. Way to go. Keep up the great work.
Again, thanks to all of these Wonderful Wildcats for making our school a more “paws-itive” place to learn and be.
