WARFIELD — Santa Claus is coming to Warfield City Hall at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, bringing gifts for all the boys and girls.
City officials hope the community will come through to make the 22nd annual event bigger and better than ever.
“Christmastime isn’t easy for some area families who struggle to make ends meet, and if we can help relieve the stress and worries of parents in our small way, then all the time and effort that goes into this event has been well worth it,” said Warfield clerk Rhonda Price.
Like last year, cars will line up at the rear entrance of city hall and stop in front of the main doors to allow children to meet Santa and receive gifts. Kids can also have pictures taken by the newspaper, which will be posted on Facebook.
The city is accepting donations of new toys, candy, coloring books, crayons and other gifts. Monetary gifts are welcome as Price hopes to take advantage of Black Friday sales to purchase toys.
“We always have a large turnout for our Visit with Santa. With the rising costs of toys and stocking fillers, it’s becoming harder to keep up with the need, but we are determined,” remarked Price.
“If you can possibly donate, it would be greatly appreciated, and we thank all those who have already done so.”
You can drop off donations at city hall 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. If that time doesn’t work, call Price at 606-395-6423 and she will accommodate you.
You can also send monetary donations via PayPal to cityofwarfield@gmail.com.
“We can’t wait to see everyone,” said Price.
