INEZ — Eden Elementary 2022 Science Fair was out of this world.
“Mad Scientist” – Mrs. Jessica Jewell – took over the award ceremony, providing humor for a fun and educational event.
“The kids loved it,” according to school administrators, who thanked Martin County High School students for helping judge the competition.
Staff handed out awards Monday to the winners in their respective grades and categories. They are listed below.
Sixth grade
•Michael Rogers took the sixth-grade overall presentation award prize.
•Samuel Maynard won the first-place ribbon in earth science.
•Michael Rogers and Jervonta Adams claimed first place in physical science, and Isabella Moore won second place.
Fifth grade
•Kenton Patrick claimed the overall presentation ribbon.
•Patrick also won first place in physical science.
•Gage Spence was the top finisher in earth science.
•Isabella Jude placed first in life science, and Alice Mae Gilkey took home the second-place ribbon.
Fourth grade
The fourth-grade overall presentation award went to Oliva Maynard.
Maynard also won first place in physical science.
Brock Fields claimed the second-place award in physical science, while Zander Sammons finished third.
Carter Lowe took first place in earth science, followed by Payden Jude in second place and Daisha Mills in third.
Sarah McCoy captured first place in life science. Classmate Bailee Messer was second and Paislee Lafferty was third.
Third grade
Third grader McKenna Mills took the top place in earth science, and Hunter Mills finished second.
Collin Endicott claimed first place in life science.
In physical science, Hope O’Brian won first place, Gabe Sturgill second and Seth Sturgill third.
Second grade
Julianna Adams won first place in life science in second grade.
Lyric Howell took first in physical science.
First grade
Ariel Meade took the first-place ribbon in earth science in the first grade.
Wesley Gilkey won first place in physical science.
The duo of Carmen Endicott and Eli Geer finished in first place in earth science.
