CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Martin County native Nathan Todd graduated Friday from the West Virginia State Police Academy.
Todd said in a Facebook post following the ceremony that it had always been his dream.
“I knew it would be tough, but I had no idea what I was getting into until I was there to experience it for myself,” Todd wrote. “The 43 of us have shed lots of blood, sweat and tears to be where we are today, but I wouldn’t go back and change a thing. I genuinely feel it has made me a better man.”
Todd, the son of Martin County Coroner Chris Todd and Donna Todd, credited his success to his family and girlfriend, Lyndsay Damron.
“They have always found a way to motivate me and make me strive to succeed,” said Todd.
“I also can’t begin to express the appreciation I have for the 42 brothers/ lifelong friends I have gained throughout this process.”
Todd works for the South Charleston Police Department.
“I also want to thank everyone at South Charleston PD for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to be here today, and all the instructors for all the knowledge they have passed on to us,” added Todd. “And lastly, I’d like to thank all my friends for all of their support and encouragement as well.”
