INEZ — The surprise withdrawal of former Martin County Judge/Executive Colby Kirk from the Nov. 8 General Election left voters with little time to decide in an unprecedented write-in race for the next judge/executive. To help voters hear from the candidates, Dawn Giesecke will moderate a candidate forum Thursday, Nov. 3, in Inez.

The event, hosted by the Mountain Citizen and Blooms On Main, starts at 7 p.m. in the Fiscal Court meeting room at the Martin County Government Center.

Voters can also watch the forum live on the Mountain Citizen Facebook page.

“Having all candidates in one location, on an even playing field, is the best solution,” says Giesecke, who moderated a successful Martin County candidate forum before the May Primary and has moderated several panels in other states.

Giesecke is a native Martin Countian and grew up on Emily Creek. She splits her time between a home in Knoxville and Martin County.

“The saying, ‘You can’t take the country out of a girl,’ is very true, but in my case, it should say, ‘You can’t take the holler out of the girl,’” admits Giesecke.

“Come out and spend the evening with us,” the moderator invites. “This is an important time for the county.”
