CECILIA — Martin County Wrestling brought home a state champion, a runner-up finish and another podium placement Saturday at the Kentucky USA Folkstyle State Championship.
Lukas Mays won the 10U 56-pound title, Colten Anderson finished second in the 14U 96-pound division and Nolan Muncy placed third at 14U 140.

Mays captured the state championship with a strong run through the 10U 56-pound bracket, taking the first step in his pursuit of the coveted Triple Crown.
Mays opened with a first-round pin of Holden Logsdon of No Bull Elite in 57 seconds. He then edged Bauer Bodner of Bluegrass Wrestling Academy 3-2 in the second round.
Mays followed with a 14-0 major decision over Braylen Rone of MC Wrestling Huskies in the third round to secure the title.
The state championship adds another major accomplishment to Mays’ growing résumé. With the folkstyle title now in hand, he will turn his attention to the other two styles of amateur wrestling. Mays will compete in Greco-Roman and freestyle as he tries to complete the Triple Crown by winning state championships in all three disciplines.
Anderson earned a runner-up finish in the 14U 96-pound division after going 2-1 in the championship rounds.
He pinned Landon Garner of Larue County Wrestling Club in 2:03, then followed with another fall in 2:13 over Keagan Bush of No Bull Elite. Anderson dropped his final bout to Oliver Westphal of Sabertooth Wrestling Club by major decision to finish second.
Muncy added another podium finish for Martin County Wrestling by placing third in the 14U 140-pound class.
After being pinned by Bryer Rogers of Woodford Takedown Club in 1:26 in the semifinals, Muncy rebounded with a pin in 52 seconds over Sullivan Leary (wrestling unattached). He claimed third place with a 12-5 decision over Westley Collins of Woodland Middle School.
