INEZ — The Martin County Sheriff’s Office reported the following arrests:

David Joshua Brown

David Joshua Brown, 40, of Lovely, was arrested March 10 on Big Elk Road in Beauty and charged with receiving stolen property valued at more than $10,000.

Sheriff Kirk said he recovered a stolen Kubota backhoe, a stolen Ford pickup truck and a stolen dump trailer that Brown allegedly had in his possession.

According to Kirk, witnesses also reported seeing Brown with tools and batteries that law enforcement is still attempting to locate and recover.

During the investigation, Brown allegedly told authorities he purchased the backhoe from Brandon Sluss. Kirk said Sluss denied that claim.

“The truck and backhoe belong to Sonja Andrews, and the trailer and tools belong to William Preece,” Kirk said.

Belinda Anette Vanhorn-Ferguson

Belinda Anette Vanhorn-Ferguson, 43, of Blaine, was arrested March 8 on Cardinal Lane in Inez on a charge of contempt of court (libel/slander, resistance to order). According to the sheriff’s report, Vanhorn-Ferguson left a drug rehabilitation center despite being under a court order to remain there.

Steven James Deweese

Steven James Deweese, 45, of Hagerhill, was arrested March 7 in Tomahawk on charges of possession of a controlled substance, first degree, first offense (drug unspecified) and possession of a controlled substance, first degree, first offense (methamphetamine).

Sheriff Kirk responded to Tomahawk to conduct a DUI observation and located the vehicle in which Deweese was a passenger. The driver was arrested for public intoxication. According to the report, Deweese had a baggie containing a yellowish crystal substance and another bag containing a crystal-like substance beside his seat.

Christopher R. Mollett

Christopher R. Mollett, 50, was arrested March 7 in Tomahawk on a parole violation warrant, a bench warrant for court, and charges of public intoxication-controlled substance (excludes alcohol) and possession of marijuana.

Sheriff Kirk responded to a 911 complaint reporting a possible DUI and stating Mollett was “on meth.” When the sheriff located Mollett outside a convenience store, he was inside his vehicle with the engine turned off. The report states Mollett was “flopping around in the seat.”

When Mollett exited the vehicle, the sheriff detected a strong odor of marijuana. According to the report, Mollett had a baggie of marijuana between the console and seat and allegedly admitted it belonged to him.

Kassandra Hamilton

Kassandra Hamilton, 33, of Lovely, was arrested March 7 on Riverfront Road in Lovely on an indictment warrant. Deputy J.C. Kirk served the warrant.

Laura Victoria Giacomoni

Laura Victoria Giacomoni, 42, of Lovely, was arrested March 7 on Riverfront Road in Lovely on a charge of criminal trespassing, third degree. According to the report, Giacomoni trespassed on property owned by Maxwell Moore, for which she had previously been cited.

Franklin Eugene Davis, of Crossville, Tennessee, was arrested March 6 in Beauty on charges of driving on a DUI-suspended license, first offense, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, first offense, and no registration/expired registration plates. Deputy J.C. Kirk arrested Davis at a safety checkpoint.

Brian Howell

Brian Howell, 46, of Inez, was arrested March 5 on Yellow Creek on an indictment warrant charging him with possession of a controlled substance, first degree, second offense (methamphetamine). Deputy Jameson Wall served the warrant after Howell turned himself in.

All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
