PIKEVILLE — Martin County’s Maci Maynard earned a spot on the 15th Region All-Tournament Team after turning in two dominant performances for the Lady Cardinals in postseason play.
Maynard, a key force in the paint for Martin County, showcased her scoring touch and rebounding ability throughout the regional tournament.
In the Lady Cardinals’ opening-round victory over Lawrence County, Maynard led the way with 17 points while shooting 71.4% from the floor. She also went 7-of-10 from the free-throw line and controlled the boards with an astounding 19 rebounds.
Maynard followed that effort with another strong outing in Martin County’s quarterfinal loss to Pikeville, finishing with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Over two regional tournament games, Maynard totaled 32 points and 31 rebounds, averaging 16 points and 15.5 rebounds per contest.
Her consistent production helped power Martin County to a first-round win and earned her recognition as one of the top performers in the 15th Region tournament.
Maynard’s all-tournament selection adds to an impressive season in which she averaged 15.6 points and 12.6 rebounds per game while shooting 60.3% from the field. She also shot 71.6% from the free-throw line and got there 134 times during the season.
