Virginia Dare (Rowe) Matthews

Virginia Dare (Rowe) Matthews, 70, of Debord, passed away March 7, 2026, at her residence.

Born April 27, 1955, in Grundy, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Estelle (McGinnis) Rowe.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Salton Matthews, along with one daughter, Phyllis Lou Matthews, and several siblings.

Virginia is survived by four daughters, Deborah Williams of Queensland, Australia, Jacqueline Perry of Kermit, West Virginia, Jennifer Matthews of Debord and Kelsey Hall of Winchester, Virginia; and two sisters, Susie Preston of Debord and Shirley Elkins of Tennessee. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Russell Marcum, Connor Marcum, Todd Matthews, Tara Hunt and Warren Matthews, and five great-grandchildren, Winnie Marcum, Zane Matthews, Juniper Matthews, Penelope Matthews and Thalia Hall.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
