INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:

Deputy Trenton Yaunk took Maynard into custody after Sheriff Kirk reported that Maynard appeared “manifestly under the influence.”
According to the arrest citation, upon arrival at the scene, Yaunk observed Maynard walking down the roadway “twitching” and unable to stand still upon his arrival.
A search of Maynard allegedly resulted in the discovery of a rock of methamphetamine, 6-1/2 orange pills in a separate bag and a needle without a cover.

Sarah Tavia Estep, 48, of West Van Lear, was arrested Feb. 21 at Addiction Recovery Center’s White Oak Hill in Inez on a charge of public intoxication-controlled substance (excludes alcohol).
Constable Bradford Preece said he received several complaints that Estep was “all over the road.” The officer noted that he was riding in a vehicle with another person when Estep almost hit the vehicle head-on.
Estep allegedly had slurred speech and advised that she had taken her medication earlier in the day.
“She also took another one of her medicines when I turned my lights on,” Preece said.

Shyquon B. Johnson, 42, was arrested Feb. 19 in Warfield on a bench warrant for court. Yaunk made the arrest.

Jackie Haney, 31, of Inez, was arrested Feb. 17 on Moore Branch in Inez on a charge of leaving the scene of accident-failure to render aid or assistance. Deputy Yaunk was dispatched to Emily Creek in Pilgrim on a report that a car had hit a post on private property and fled the scene. The deputy located Haney, who allegedly admitted to hitting the post.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
