Charles Wendell Howard
1935—2025
It is with a broken heart that we announce the passing of our precious dad, Wendell Charles Howard, who departed this life Feb. 10, 2026.
Dad was blessed with 90 years of life. He was full of life, always on the go and loved to tell stories about his life’s adventures.
Born June 23, 1935, in Martin County, he was the son of the late Donald Howard and Lauren (Maynard) Howard.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by an infant son, Edward Howard; one brother, James Donald “Jankie” Howard; his sister, Geraldine Murphy; and a son-in-law, Keith Parsons. Charles is survived by his beloved wife of over 70 years, Christine (Murphy) Howard of Lovely. He also leaves behind two sons, Mark (Jeana) Howard of Inez and Mike (Rondena) Howard of Pilgrim; and four daughters, Sherry Osborn, Bonnie (Gary) Conn, Marsha (James) Richardson and Robin Parsons, all of Louisa. He is also survived by two sisters, Freda Kay Scaggs of Piketon, Ohio, and Jackie Hodge of Waverly, Ohio. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Nathan Howard, Tiffeny (Todd) Duff, Brandon (Timber) Howard, Chad Howard, Joseph (Heather) Richardson and Ashley Parsons; and a loving great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren: Shadrick Duff, Easton Richardson and Braxton Richardson.
“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints” (Psalm 116:15). Though we grieve, we find comfort knowing that Dad is at peace, healed and in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I will miss you, Daddy, but someday I will meet you on Heaven’s bright shore. Your “baby girl,” Marsha
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, at the Union United Baptist Church with Terry Howell and Bobby Moore officiating. Burial followed at the Riverview Memorial Gardens in Louisa. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
