WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — Three Kentucky women face computer fraud and conspiracy charges following an alleged theft case that began in Pike County and ended in Mingo County.

Sherry Adams, of Phelps, was arrested Feb. 11 by Mingo County Sheriff’s Lt. R.G. Messer.
Criminal complaints filed by the Mingo County Sheriff’s Department state that Sherry Adams, Jessica Utterback, 29, of Stopover, and Jessica Adams, 28, of Phelps, used a credit or debit card from a dropped wallet to make unauthorized purchases at a Dollar General in Varney. The women allegedly picked up a wallet dropped at a Double Kwik convenience store in Pike County, Kentucky, and later used a card from the wallet to buy items on two separate occasions in Mingo County.
The Mingo County Sheriff’s Department filed charges against all three women.
The Kentucky State Police picked up Utterback on Feb. 9 and lodged her in the Pike County Detention Center awaiting extradition back to Mingo County. KSP arrested Jessica Adams on Feb. 11 on a fugitive from another state warrant.
All three women face two counts of felony computer fraud, two counts of felony conspiracy and two counts of obtaining money by false pretenses, court records show.
Other arrests in Mingo County include:

Dakota Ryan Hatfield, 30, of Matewan, was charged and jailed for allegedly sexually abusing two small children late last year.
According to Mingo County Magistrate Court documents, on Oct.15, 2025, WVSP Trooper C.K Johnson received and investigated a complaint regarding a sexual assault.
Court documents said the complaint stated that Hatfield had sexually assaulted and abused two juvenile victims, ages 11 and 9 years old. They had been left in his care on different occasions.
Court documents said both victims stated that “Hatfield performed sexual acts on them.”
Hatfield was arraigned and formally charged with sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian or person in a position of trust to a child (two counts). He remains lodged at the Southwestern Regional jail on a $100,000 cash bond.
Renal Keith Hafield, 43, of Delbarton, was charged with driving on a revoked license (DUI), no proof of registration, no proof of insurance, unsafe or improperly equipped vehicle, obstructing an officer and fleeing (on foot) from an officer.
He was arrested by Deputy Matt Tiller of the MCSD.

Christopher Eugene Smith, 52, of Williamson, was charged with possession and delivery of a controlled substance (meth).

Kimberly Collins, 54, of Williamson, was charged with possession and delivery of a controlled substance (fentanyl).
They were both arrested by officers of the U.S. 119 Drug Task Force and deputies with the MCSD after an ongoing investigation.
Calvin Rogers, 42, of Williamson, was arrested for domestic assault and destruction of property.
He was arrested by the Williamson Police Department with assistance from the WVSP.
