
Roy Lee Crum
1953—2026
Roy Lee Crum, 72, of Inez, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Born May 22, 1953, in Williamson, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Glen R. Crum and Norma Sexton Crum of Big Elk Creek.
Roy worked as a mine electrician at Wolf Creek Collieries and Massey Energy until he became disabled in 1995.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepmother, Minerva Crum, one brother, James R Crum and one nephew, Sean Alvin Crum.
Roy is survived by his wife, Frances, who stayed with him through good times and bad, through sickness and health, until death parted them. Also left behind are his daughter Rachel Wright and son-in-law Derrick Wright; one brother and sister-in-law, Joe Ed Crum and Judy Mills Crum of Big Elk; stepsisters Carolyn (Carroll) Kirk and Peggy (Tom) Dials; several nephews and nieces; and his best cat friend, Thomas.
Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, at 1 p.m. with Rick Osborn officiating. Friends and family may visit beginning at 11 a.m. until the time of services. A private burial will follow at Mountain Valley Gardens in Inez.
The family wishes for donations to be made in his name to their neighbor, Ricky Boggs and his animal rescue, Small Critters Inc., on Coldwater Road.
Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
