Area residents will have an opportunity to prepare a legal will at no cost during a Last Will & Testament Free Clinic scheduled for Monday, March 9, at the Martin County Extension Office.
The clinic will run from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the extension office at 9 Holy Street in Inez, and is open to the public with no eligibility requirements.
Livelihoods Knowledge Exchange Network (LiKEN), a nonprofit organization, is organizing the event in partnership with Joe F. Childers & Associates PLLC.
Attorneys will be available to help participants draft a simple will addressing the distribution of real property, such as land and structures affixed to land, upon death.
Participants will meet one-on-one with an attorney and can expect to leave with a completed will.
Walk-ins will be accepted, though appointments are encouraged.
Participants should bring a photo ID and any relevant property information. Organizers encourage individuals with multiple properties to bring deeds or other property records to help streamline the process. Participants who already have a will may also bring a copy for reference.
Residents may reserve a time slot by visiting https://shorturl.at/Cu3OE.
