
Delmer Bowen
1943—2026
Delmer Bowen, 82, of Villa Rica, Georgia, passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2026.
Born March 22, 1943, he was the son of the late Clarence Bowen and Noldia Bowen.
Delmer dedicated 34 years of his life to Norfolk Southern Corporation, where he retired, having made a lasting impact on his colleagues and the company itself.
Delmer loved his family dearly, and he created memories that will be treasured for many years. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid golfer, bowler and a huge University of Alabama fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sherlie Ann Bowen; brothers, Elmer Hickman and Ova Bowen; sisters, Ossie Meador, Tamery Bowen, Alma Jean Bowen and Joann Marcum.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Landon Jordan of Palm Coast, Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Lynn Bowen of Morristown, Tennessee; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Virgil Mills of Tomahawk, Kentucky; sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Larry Pemberton of Harrison, Tennessee; brother and sister-in-law, Darren and Dee Blackburn of Clyde, Ohio; grandchildren, Savannah and Austin Post of Rome, Georgia, Ashley and Jonathan McKinley of Carrollton, Georgia, Kyle Blanks of Villa Rica, Georgia; great-grandsons, Jackson Post, baby boy Post and Jace McKinley; beloved family friends, Mike and Beth Blanks; longtime special friend, Linda Yearicks; numerous nieces and nephews.
Delmer Bowen will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. As we remember him, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, passion, and an unfaltering devotion to family and friends.
The family received friends Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel in Villa Rica, Georgia. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at the Callaham Funeral Home in Inez with Nathan Harless officiating. Burial followed at the Riverview Memorial Gardens in Louisa, Kentucky.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky, and Jones-Wynn Funeral Home.
