Martin County issues boil water advisory

CITIZEN STAFF REPORT

INEZ — Martin County Water District issued a boil water advisory Monday evening for customers along a section of Blacklog Road and surrounding areas after a break in an 8-inch main line.

The advisory applies to customers from 1620 Blacklog Road at Jude’s Produce to 3256 Blacklog Road near the 40 East Booster Pump Station. The affected area also includes Coldwater Road, Little Blacklog Road and all hollows, side roads and branches connected to that section of the system.

About 360 customers are affected, the water district said.

Officials said the advisory was issued as a precaution because a line break can allow bacteria to enter the system.

Until further notice, consumers in the affected should boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing it to a rolling boil for three minutes before use.

The advisory will remain in effect until water samples are tested and results show the supply meets acceptable quality standards.
