CITIZEN STAFF REPORT

Martin County Pick and Bow, presented by South Arts, meets each Friday after school at Martin County High School, opening the stage to students ages 9 to 18 who want to learn the music of the mountains one note at a time.

Local organizer James L. Webb of the Stidham Old Time Music Association said any student with an interest in picking up an instrument is welcome to show up at 3:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

Classes run from 3:45 to 5:15 p.m. and are free to attend.

Students receive hands-on instruction in guitar, banjo, fiddle, dulcimer, mandolin, autoharp and violin.

Snacks are provided and no prior experience is required.
