CORBIN — Martin County spent the weekend before Christmas searching for consistency on offense and came up short in a pair of neutral-site losses at the Corbin Arena. The Lady Cards fell to Whitley County 53-41 on Dec. 19 and Garrard County 50-42 on Dec. 20 in the Redhound Christmas Bash.
The Lady Cardinals kept pace from the perimeter against Whitley County, hitting seven 3-pointers, but could not generate enough points inside or at the free-throw line. Martin County finished 16-of-45 shooting (35.6%) and attempted only two free throws in the setback.
Sophie Harless paced the Lady Cardinals with 11 points. She knocked down three shots from deep and pulled down six boards. Freshman Annaleigh Davis added 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Chloe May scored eight points with two 3-pointers and went 2-for-2 at the line. The senior secured four boards. Desirae Gullett and Makenna Marcum added six points apiece and both collected four rebounds.
Martin County again found itself within striking distance but could not close the gap in a 50-42 loss to Garrard County.
Marcum led the way with 17 points and May followed with 12. Davis finished with seven points, Gullett hit a 3-pointer and Harless scored three.

The Cards are in Orlando and set to play Monday and Tuesday. Game details will be in next week’s edition.
