NAUGATUCK, W.Va. — The Tug Valley Lady Panthers hosted defending Class A state champion Gilmer County on Tuesday, Dec. 23.
It was Gilmer County that defeated Tug Valley in the state title game last March.
On this particular evening, the Lady Panthers lost again 51-38.
The Lady Titans have one of the tallest rosters in the state featuring a pair of 6-foot-4 sisters Ava and Blair Dobbins.
Gilmer County led 17-9 after one quarter, but Tug fought back and outscored the Titans 12-6 in the second quarter to cut the lead to 23-21 at halftime.
But Gilmer County outscored the Lady Panthers 14-7 in the third frame and 14-10 in the final quarter to pull away with the win.

Haven Deskins led TVHS with 12 points, while Katie Hall scored 11. Bailee Hall and Gracie Hynd each scored five, Kylie DeBoard had three and Katelyn Richardson added two. Bailee Hall led Tug Valley with 12 rebounds, while DeBoard dished out four assists.
Ava Dobbins had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Lady Titans. Lera Frymier led the visitors in scoring with 16 and Paige Stevens scored 10, Laura Brennen added 6 points, Blair Dobbins 4 and Kenley Hartshorn tacked on one point.
Coach Seth Ooten’s team will host Man High School this week and then travel to Phelps (KY) on Dec. 31.
