Maynard with two double-doubles

INEZ — The Lady Cards (3-1) picked up two wins in four days, toppling Betsy Layne (2-3) 57-49 on Dec. 9 at home before edging Harlan (1-5) 53-51 on Dec. 13 at the Lisa Collins Classic at South Laurel High School.

Martin County vs Betsy Layne – Davis was firing on all cylinders against the Bobcats. She knocked down all three of her 3-point attempts on her way to netting 22 points. Davis dished out four assists and tallied three rebounds.

Maci Maynard posted a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds on 50% shooting as she continues to power through opponents in the paint. She delivered two assists.

Chloe May knocked down three from downtown for nine points, six assists, and two rebounds before leaving early after an injury at the beginning of the third quarter.

Makenna Marcum finished with 10 points, three assists and a steal.

Sophie Harless was a huge factor under the rim with six rebounds and six steals to go with two points.

Desirae Gullett scored two points and Lexi Cline saw action in the win.

Martin County at Harlan – The Lady Cards survived a late push from Harlan to win 53-51 in London, with Marcum earning Player of the Game honors after she bagged 18 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Maynard added another double-double to her résumé collecting 13 points and 10 rebounds in just 15 minutes while battling foul trouble.

May dominated the glass with 15 rebounds to go with eight points and two assists.

Harless had another solid performance with five points, eight rebounds and three steals.

Davis chipped in eight points and three assists in the two-point win.

The Lady Cards were scheduled to host Letcher Central last night. They will play in the Redhound Christmas Bash in Corbin this Friday and Saturday against Whitley County and Garrard County.
