Janet Annette (Spears) Hurd, 57, of Auxier, passed away Dec. 11, 2025, at King’s Daughters Medical Center.

She leaves behind a legacy of fierce love, generosity and compassion that will be forever remembered by all who knew her.

Born Dec. 14, 1967, she was the daughter of the late James and Edith Spears.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her grandson Issac Sullivan and her brother-in-law Kenneth Posey.

She is survived by her husband, Troy Hurd of Auxier; her daughters, Ashley Marcum (Jimmy Dale) of Inez and Amber Sullivan (Charlie) of Philomath, Oregon; her sister, Missy Posey of Knoxville; and her brother, Lynn Spears of Paintsville. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Gunner Goble, Rhett Goble, Emily Sullivan, Jake Sullivan, Tucker Sullivan, Luke Sullivan and Lincoln Sullivan, who were the light of her life. Janet is also survived by her nephews Tony Bledsoe and Logan Bledsoe (Aryn); her niece Cierra Posey (Max); and her great-niece and great-nephew, Maverick Cain and Mia Arazia.

Janet loved people with a depth and sincerity that was unmistakable. She spent her life doing for others, never hesitating to lend a helping hand. She loved to “run the roads,” visit, check on people, and show up wherever she was needed. Most of all, she adored her grandchildren; they were her pride, her joy, and the center of her world. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing her love will echo through our lives forever.
