INEZ — Martin County Youth Football standout Blaine Williams has earned a roster spot on the FBU Team Kentucky sixth-grade squad, giving the local program a big reason to celebrate.

The multi-sport athlete is the son of Trish and Chad Williams and is a student at Eden Elementary School.

Williams is a key player for the sixth-grade Cardinals. He was selected to compete with some of the top youth football talent in the state.

He will line up on offense, defense and special teams when Team Kentucky competes this weekend in Lexington. Coaches expect him to contribute in multiple roles and view him as a strong representative of Martin County’s youth program.

Team Kentucky will face Team Tennessee, Team Indiana and Team Kansas/Missouri in a challenging weekend slate. A successful showing would send the squad to the National Level Championship in Naples, Florida, where it would square off against some of the best youth teams in the country.
