
Lloyd Messer
1955—2025
Lloyd Messer, 70, of Genoa, West Virginia, passed away peacefully in his home Nov. 28, 2025.
Born Feb. 2, 1955, he was the son of Leo Messer and Martha Hodge Messer.
Lloyd devoted his life to his family, his faith and his community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ellen Messer. Lloyd leaves behind two sons, Lloyd (Savanna) Messer and Josh Messer, and two daughters, Sarah (Matt) Duncan and Kayla (Josh) Moore. Lloyd was blessed with six granddaughters, eight grandsons and six great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by one brother, Randy (Alice) Messer; and three sisters, Phyllis Clay, Tennie Johnson and Bonnie (EJ) Maynard.
He is preceded in death by one sister, Alma Colegrove.
A devoted man of faith, Lloyd was a faithful member of Genoa United Baptist Church in Genoa, West Virginia. His kindness, humility and steadfast love for the Lord were evident in all he did and in the lives he touched. He will be remembered for his steady strength, warm presence and the deep love he had for his family and friends. His absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will forever remain a blessing.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025, at the Carter-Messer Cemetery in Kermit, West Virginia, with Ray Messer Jr. officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
