Harley Dale Stepp, 19, of Debord, was arrested Friday on Davella Road in Debord for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Deputy Wall reports that he and Sheriff Kirk were dispatched to Davella Road in reference to a single vehicle rollover. According to the police report, officers detected an odor of alcohol on Stepp, who said he lost control of the vehicle because the road was dark and wet.
Stepp allegedly said he was on his way home from a gathering with friends when the crash occurred. Kirk conducted a field sobriety test before placing him under arrest at 8:24 p.m.

Jonathan Edward Sherman, 37, of Tomahawk, was arrested Thursday at Frank Horn Baseball Field in Inez on a charge of first-degree wanton endangerment (discharging a firearm). Sheriff Kirk reports that Sherman’s estranged wife had previously obtained an emergency protective order. On her way home, she passed him on the road. Sherman reportedly turned his vehicle, passed her, parked and walked into the roadway to force her to stop.
According to the police report, Sherman tried to grab the woman’s door handle as she pulled away and hit the car several times with his hand. As she was pulling out in her car, he allegedly shot twice.
The sheriff recovered two spent shell casings and an unfired round in the roadway. Sherman stated that he fired into the pavement and it was never his intention to harm her or her two passengers, the police report says.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
