Tug Valley Cheerleaders capture 11th state championship

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Tug Valley High School added another chapter to its storied cheerleading history Nov. 19, winning the Class A state championship at the Charleston Coliseum to secure the program’s 11th overall title.

The victory marks Tug Valley’s first state crown since 2023 and follows a dominant stretch in which the Panthers won three straight Class A championships in 2021, 2022 and 2023. The program also claimed state titles in 2005, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

This year’s squad includes Megan Pack, Alyson Marcum, Lila Duncan, Molly Hatfield, Madison Messer, Kenadie Bryant, Lakyn Wolford, Rylee Vickers, Alexa Perry, Tyson Miller, Aubree Williamson, Maci Marcum and Jayleena Meade.

Tara Mitchell Preece coaches the team with assistant coaches Trina Fitzpatrick and Tori Newsome.
