When you look at the book of Daniel you will see that a revised or revived Roman empire is going to come to power according to Daniel chapters 2 and 7. The revived Roman Empire will emerge from that infrastructure known as the European Union. The revived Roman Empire is a little different from the European Union, and it would include all western nations, including the United States and Canada, which basically came from Europe.
A few years ago Russia took Crimea over without any real problem because nobody stopped them from doing it. Crimea was actually a part of the old Roman Empire. And now Russia has been in a war with Ukraine for many months with no end in sight. They seem to be trying to draw the European Union into a fight. The European Union desperately needs a leader, a man to step up and deal with Putin and take control of its precarious situation.
Right now there is not a good relationship between the U.S. and the European Union because we are not helping them fight Russia. But at the same time, the U.S. is trying to heal strained relations with Russia. What side is the U.S. going to be on? Russia or Europe?
As Putin wants Russia to flex its muscle in Europe, China wants to be not just a world leader but THE world power! Iran wants to be the leader of the Islamic world and eventually wants Islam to take over the entire world. Turkey wants in there too. And then you have President Trump who wants to be in charge of world peace. That’s very interesting, by the way. 1 Thessalonians 5:3: “When they shall say peace and safety … Then sudden destruction cometh.”
So we have seven different entities: Iran, Turkey, China, the U.S. and the European Union, Russia, and then you throw in the Islamic world, all vying for world power and domination. And they are all waiting for the others to crack so that they can step up to the podium and take charge and they will force you to be on their side.
Not just the European Union, but the world is looking for a man, a leader to step up and take charge in all of this chaos. That man is coming. He is called the anti-Christ, the beast, the man of sin, the son of perdition. And he most assuredly is alive today. Is he Elon Musk, the tech man? Is he Putin, the strong man? Is he Emmanuel Macron, the weak man? Is he Donald Trump, the peace man? All seem to be applying for the job. Or is he someone else we haven’t considered? Whoever he is, he will eventually be filled with Satan and will lead a world that will be on his side and cheer him on.
But the question for us is not who is the anti-Christ? But what will you do with Jesus Christ? Whose side are you on? Exodus 32:26: “Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD’s side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.”
Moses didn’t give these people time to ponder this question. He didn’t say, “Come back tomorrow and let me know.” He wanted to know now! Of the 12 tribes of Israel only one came and stood with Moses.
Is that the way it is today? Most people will not stand for anything that gets in the way of what they want. Self-fulfillment and self-happiness are what people want but it is a false fulfillment and not true happiness. If Moses stood today and proclaimed, “Who is on the Lord’s side?” what would you do?
Jesus is coming again. You don’t have time to ponder; you had better decide now.
